Dr. Thomas has lived in Georgia for most of her life. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Samford University and held a leadership role in Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society. She graduated summa cum laude and went on to complete medical school at the Medical College of Georgia, where she met and married her husband, who is an emergency medicine physician.

After completing her residency in North Carolina, she returned to private practice in Georgia. As medical students, residents and practicing physicians, she and her husband have participated in and led numerous medical trips abroad. They have done medical work in over seven different countries including Bangladesh, Cambodia, Egypt, Guinea, Peru, Mexico, and Bulgaria. She recently moved to Atlanta after living in Saudi Arabia for two years with her husband and four children.
