Before Sonya joined the Gwinnett Clinic staff, she was a loyal patient for 14 years. She has inspired her daughter and five neighbors to become patients as well. Today, Sonya helps take care of patients at Gwinnett Clinic's Lawrenceville office with Dr. Shin and Dr. Raju. You'll find Sonya busy scheduling appointments, updating charts, and helping a wide variety of patients to connect with various doctors.
How do you view your daily work as contributing to patients’ health and wellness?
“These days, you call any business and get a recording,” she says. “With us, it's about giving personal attention to the patients.”
Sonya likes to check-in patients for their appointments and give a good first impression.
“When it comes to memorable patients, I say that's everyone everyday. We see all kinds of patients, and I have a heart for those who come in for specialist appointments such as neurology.”
In your opinion, what is the key to a strong patient-doctor relationship?
“Taking time. Don't rush. Some patients only need 10 minutes for an appointment, and some need to talk. They tell me that they never feel rushed and really appreciate the time that the doctors take.”
What inspired you to help take care of patients and enter the medical field?
“As a patient, I enjoyed having all of the services in one place,” she says. “That's what attracted me to this job, and it's the best concept I've seen.”
Gwinnett Clinic offers primary care, physical therapy, X-ray scans, pharmacy, and more — all in one convenient location for patients.
“I'm thrilled about the idea. I think it's going to grow in coming years.”
